Accommodation

Check-in
The guest signs the check-in Form and picks up the transponder/key from the Porters office at the main entrance of Jacobs University Bremen.

The accommodation will be available from 3:00 pm (15:00) on the date of arrival stated in the confirmation.

Upon arrival to the room, please report immediately any missing / damaged items or untidy rooms to housing@jacobs-university.de.

Check-Out
The accommodation must be vacated and keys/transponders returned to the Porters by 10:00am on the date of departure stated in the confirmation. Failure to return the keys/transponder in a timely manner may incur extra costs.

The accommodation must be left in a tidy and orderly state otherwise additional cleaning charges may be raised.

All personal possessions must be removed and waste disposed of. Any items left behind in the accommodation will be discarded. 

Badges

You will receive your personalized name badge and voucher for all booked services when you register. Please wear your name badge throughout the entire conference, in particular for the coffee and especially for the lunch in the College Serveries and all evening meals (access only with name badge).

In case you have lost your badge, please report at the conference office.

Certificate of Attendance

A certificate of attendance will be Hand over at the conference office.

Cloakroom

Coats and luggage can be deposited in the conference hall (No liability for coats and luggage).

Coffee Breaks

Coffee, tea and water will be served in the break and is included in the registration fee. Please wear your name badge throughout the congress.

The Conference office is located opposite of the conference hall and will be open at the times indicated below:

Currency

The official German currency is the EURO. Traveller`s Cheques are accepted by all banks and major hotels in principal cities. Their use in Germany for general purposes is not as popular as in some other countries, and may incur additional charges. International credit cards are accepted in hotels, department stores and restaurants. They are not widely accepted in smaller shops such as bakeries, butchers and news vendors where only cash is accepted or the German EC card. All convertible foreign currencies (www.oanda.com) are exchangable at all major banks.

Electricity

Electric current in Germany is without exception AC 230V/50Hz. Sockets only fit round two-pin plugs (use of adapters is necessary for all devices).

Insurance and Liability

The Organizers do not accept liability for personal injury or loss or damage of private property of participants and accompanying persons either during or while travelling to the conference. Participants are strongly recommended to seek insurance coverage for health and accident, lost luggage and trip cancellation.

Language

The official language of the conference is English.

Breakfast and Lunch: access only with name badge

Opening hours in the colleges:

Breakfast for guests overnight:     07.30 am – 09.30 am
Breakfast is taken in the Colleges Krupp and Mercator

Lunch for all participants, Monday to Friday:     12.30 am – 01.30 pm
Lunch is taken in the College Mercator, College Nordmetall is closed.

Please note that resale articles are not included in the full board flat rate. Resale articles are wrapped up articles, bottled beverages, fruit to go, ice cream from the freezer. If unsure, please do not hesitate to ask the on-site staff members for help.

Oral Presentations

We would like to inform you about some technical and organisational details.

For your presentation we will provide:
A laptop, providing Windows 7 and Office 2010 (Own laptops are permitted, if you bring your VGA port/adapter along)

A data projector, aspect ratio 4:3, resolution 1024*786
MC-files or presentations on a WIN-PC are not recommended.

To ensure a smooth congress flow your presentation will be transferred to our PCs and checked in time before your lecture. We kindly ask you to send your presentation by e-mail in advance to Mrs Britta Berninghausen, b.berninghausen@jacobs-university.de until June 15th, 2016.
Please note the maxium volume of 100MB.

Poster Presentations

Poster Session:
Monday, July 4, 2016, 18:15-19:00 hrs

The poster author is requested to be at his poster at the scheduled time. Posters should be intelligible in themselves, even in the absence of the authors and without a study of the abstract.

Time to mount:
Sunday July 3, 16:00 -19:00h or Monday, July 4, 2016, 07:30-08:15
Materials to mount the posters will be available at the conference office.

Time to remove:
Thursday, July 7, 2016, after lunch till 18:00

Preferred poster format is A0 (portrait format); the max. size allowed 0.81 m (width)  x 1.19 m (height)

Posters which are not removed in time will not be stored or mailed to the authors.

Program Changes

The organisers are not liable for any changes made to the program. Updates may be found at this website.

Public Transport

To reach Bremen city centre we recommend going by train from the station Bremen-Schönebeck to Bremen Hauptbahnhof.

Trains are departing every 15 or 30 minutes depending on the day time from Schönebeck at i.e. 08:07 h, 08:22 h, 08:37 h, 08:52 h.
The parting time from Bremen Main Station to Schönebeck is 20:04 h, 20:34 h.
Attention: The last train to Bremen-North leaves at 00:06 h

It takes 18 minutes to reach Bremen Hauptbahnhof.
Tickets are available in the station from a ticket machine. You are travelling in zone II.

It is not customary to flag down a taxi cab. Prices are set according to a basic charge and a set price per kilometre.

Time Zone

Bremen is in the Central European time zone. Central European Standard Time (CET) is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Tipping and Etiquette

Service charges and VAT are generally included in the price. It is typical to "round up" the price by 5 - 10% to amount to a round figure.
